Obama slams China-Dalai Lama meeting

China denounced Washington on Sunday (07.17.11), after U.S. President Barack Obama welcomed the Dalai Lama at the White House. China said the meeting had damaged relations between the two countries.

"The move obviously had interfered with China's internal affairs, hurt the feelings of Chinese people and undermine China-US relations people," said a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Ma Zhaoxu, in a written statement, as written by Xinhua news agency.

Obama's meeting with Tibetan spiritual leader on Saturday (16.07.11) it was just a small affair, held away from the Oval Office, where traditionally the president meet with world leaders.

China considers the Dalai Lama as a "solver" that tend to divide China, and regularly protested against his meetings abroad.

"We ask the Americans to seriously consider the attitude of China, to adopt immediate measures to clean up the impact of the damned, to stop interfering in China's internal affairs and stop conniving and supporting the anti-China separatist forces that seek 'Tibet independence', "Ma said in a statement.
