Panasonic Push Eco-Friendly Products

PT Panasonic Lighting Indonesia encourage environmentally sound production by producing energy saving lamps or light eco capsule. This is one effort to reduce emissions and protect the environment in Indonesia.

Inauguration of the factory of PT Panasonic Indonesia Ligthing concept eco ideas and new product launches eco light capsule in Pasuruan, East Java, on Friday (01/10/2010), attended by Environment Minister Gustavo M Hatta, Minister of Public Housing Soeharso Monoarfa, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Agus Tjahajana and Vice Regent of Pasuruan H Edi Assembly, and President of Lighting Company Panasonic Corporation Yoshio Ito.

PLI has been operating in Indonesia in 1997 and has produced more than 230 million lamps. As a tangible form Panasonic Gobel Indonesia's commitment to environmental sustainability, panasonic light capsule launches eco or environmentally friendly lamp that is a breakthrough in lighting technology that fit the needs of today's consumer.

Agus Tjahajana said, in 2009, the need for energy saving lamps in the domestic market reached 160 million units. "From that need, a new national industry could put about 25 million units, while the remaining 135 million supplied by the offshore industry. So, the odds are still very big," he said.

President Commissioner of PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia Rahmat Gobel said the production of energy saving lamps encourage competitiveness.

According Soeharso, the challenge for industry is to create energy-saving lamps are cheap or affordable. Another challenge is to disseminate to the public about the efficiency of its use. "I remembered the expression of the founders of Panasonic. The factory was established not to enrich companies and traders, but enrich the civilization and prosperity," said Soeharso.
